Scandinavia Children Bible Studies App Review & Book Giveaway

Hello Michigan moms and visiting readers!  I would like to kick off our week with a wonderful giveaway for you and your children.  As a Christian mom, I believe that raising our children up as unto the Lord is very important.  Incorporating a children's Bible study is essential for them to learn about Jesus and what He has for us in this life.
Do you currently do Bible studies with your children?  Here are some tips that can aide in helping children in learning the Bible whether it's a Children's Bible or not:
  • Having copies of the same Bible is helpful so they can follow along if they are of reading age.
  • Stick with a standard version of the Bible as King James, etc. can be very confusing.  Student Bibles are wonderful.
  • Strictly have a lesson on learning the books of the Bible so they know how to search for Bible verses and references.
  • Have your oldest child read out loud.  I have my oldest daughter do this from time to time and it is very helpful even when it comes to the younger children.
  • Be sure to have a discussion on what you read so that they may have a deep and meaningful understanding of God's Word.
For the preschool child, many of us know that they are more hands on and visual.  The Children's Bible iPad App is a great tool for teaching children at home about the Bible.

The Children's Bibles contains 84 books, different well-known children’s Bible stories.
They are all beautifully illustrated, in a classic naturalistic and colorful style, with sound effects and music. They are also made into movies, and you can record your own audio for reading so the child will hear the father, mother or grandparent reading the story.  These stories have already been sold, in printed form, in over 8 million copies in more than 110 languages and countries. (See the list in the App.) It is still reprinting 300,000 to 600,000 each year.
Check out the 3 free complete books and 3 free sample books.
These are all stories from the Bible for different age groups from +0 to teenagers and even adults. They are faithful to the BIBLE, but shortened in some books.
Please have a look, and download this free App and look at the free books and samples.

•Read (you can read the stories yourself)

•Read to Me (listen to the story, while watching the pages turn)

•My Audio (record your own voice and play along with the story)

•Play movie (watch an animated video)
You can view details on the app here.   The Children's Bible Studies iPad app is by Scandinavia Publishing House.

I have personally viewed a demonstration of the Children's Bible iPad app and feel it is an awesome  tool for a child of any age, even adults.
If you have an iPad in your possession, please take a look at this app and do a review on iTunes.

Now, my favorite part....the GIVEAWAY!  Enter the giveaway below through Rafflecopter simply by logging in with your email and following the instructions.  The winner will receive a set of best selling Bible books:

Women's Health and Fitness Day with BergaMet Mega

Women's Health & Fitness Day is right around the corner and on September 26th, thousands of women across the nation will come together to learn how to take control and make smarter steps towards healthier living. Women's Health & Fitness day was started to promote the importance of regular physical activity and health awareness by hosting local health-focused events for as many as 100,000 women. To help women of all ages get healthy and active, Dr. Ross Walker, author of 5 Stages of Health, offers the following tips:

Decades up to age 30: From 18 to 30, your muscles and joints, along with your vascular system, are at their best - take this time to start and maintain a lifelong exercise routine. Take a few different classes, whether it's Zumba or Yoga, to get an idea of what type of workout you would like to use to get in shape.

Age 30 to 40: Addictions, such as drinking and smoking, are bad for you at any age but as you get older they can have lasting effects on your health. Use this decade to quit those bad habits; make your decision to quit public, telling friends and family that you fully intend to stop will create the support system you need.

Age 40 to 50: In your 20s and 30s, eating a carton of ice cream at night seemed to have little effect on your figure, but once you hit your 40s that will start to change. This decade is where women begin to see the buildup of fat, so start a healthy diet now. To lose weight you will want to take in fewer calories than you burn off and once you feel you dropped those extra pounds try to maintain it - if you stop, the weight will begin to pour back on.

Age 50 to 60: Every visit to your doctor is the perfect opportunity for health screenings but this decade will be the most important when trying to pass those tests. Between your 50s and 60s, common diseases such as cancers and cardiovascular problems begin to manifest - make sure to get appropriate tests at annual checkups or when needed. You can also take daily steps towards preventing illnesses by taking dietary supplements, such as BergaMet Mega, which help to promote cardiovascular health and maintain healthy cholesterol levels.

Age 60 and onwards: This time is when you should be taking active steps to keep your mind sharp and prevent yourself from slowing down, not just physically but mentally too. Try taking up a form of meditation, whether it's through yoga or sitting in silence for 30 minutes a day - this will help you gather your thoughts and relieve your body and mind from stress that can affect your healthy way of life.

It's definitely not too late to start exercising and adopting healthy eating habits.  What about supplements?   I would like to introduce to you BergaMet Mega as a potential supplement for your health.  BergaMet is a "100% natural Cholesterol and Metabolic support."  "It is a natural extract from a unique Italian fruit citrus Bergamot."

No matter what phase of development a woman is in, it's important to take those steps to keep our hearts healthy so that the rest of our bodies can function properly. Natural products are the way to go these days.  Makes sense too.  We should take advantage of what God has made for the health of our bodies.  If you would like more information on BergaMet Mega, you can obtain it here.

Here's to Michigan moms staying healthy!  Have a blessed weekend everyone!

Stay tuned for Monday's post!  Brand new feature mom post in the works.

Mia Mariu Cosmetics Review and Giveaway

Good morning Michigan moms and visiting moms.  Are you ready for a fun giveaway to jump start your week?  Before I kick it off, let me share with you these amazing yet unique cosmetics by Mia Mariu.

Mia Mariu is a health and beauty social selling company that offers money making opportunities for women alike.  Based in Dallas, this company's products are considered natural.  Most likely, many of us have been made aware of all the toxins and chemicals that are in the big brand name cosmetics and what they are potentially doing to our skin.  Natural beauty products are the way to go this day and age with all-natural ingredients. This is where Mia Mariu comes in.

I recently received and sampled a couple of their products such as their lipstick and loose mineral eye shadow.  You can most certainly tell the difference in texture and quality versus your big brand name cosmetics. Why?  Mia Mariu uses "quality botanicals, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and peptides in all their cosmetics."  Upon applying my samples, my face felt lighter and healthier.  I have not been able to say that about my current "natural" cosmetics.  Is it time to make a switch?

Mia Mariu also offers business opportunities.  If you are a Michigan mom who fancy's natural cosmetics and would be interested in becoming an advisor, read about the Mia Mariu opportunity.  It's an excellent way to earn discounts on your favorite cosmetics all the while earning an extra income from a stellar company.  Interested in giving Mia Mariu a try?

Now onto the fun part of the review.  The Giveaway!  Mia Mariu is offering one Hydrating Stick Gloss and one Loose Mineral Shadow Liner to one lucky reader. The winner can have the color of their choice on each product. A Retail Value of $29 for U.S residents only.

The giveaway will be through Rafflecopter.  It's simple.  Just login with Facebook or your email below and answer the questions to enter.  Each question is worth a certain amount of points.  When the giveaway comes to a close, the winner is chosen automatically through Rafflecopter.  Mia Mariu will ship the winner their hydrating stick and gloss shortly after they have been announced. Giveaway begins today and ends Friday, September 14th, 2012 at midnight.  Winner will be announced on Monday, September 17th in the morning post.

Enjoy and Happy Monday!

I personally received products from Mia Mariu to review here on Michigan Home Mommy Works.  All opinions expressed here are honest and my own.

Meet Christy Little Jones

Good morning Michigan moms.  I would like to introduce to you another amazing woman who happens to be a national speaker for marriage and relationships.  Also, get out a pen and paper for some stellar tips on how to train your child to be a world changer.  (I've included my Christian perspective at the end of this post.)

Christy Little Jones
Christy is a highly sought after national speaker that passionately expresses her love, joy and experience as a single woman, wife, and mom in a very real and engaging way.

With a successful father hailed the NFL Football Hall of Famer, Class 2010 (Floyd Little: Denver Broncos) and a mother graced as one of the first black models in Seventeen and Mademoiselle Magazines in the early 1960's, Christy has maintained that invigorating entrepreneurial spirit and ventured into the world of marriage and relationship coaching.

Raising a world changer is no easy task. Parenting is one of the most difficult, yet most rewarding positions there is! While raising a child with strong, healthy values, it’s important to keep in mind that being an intentional parent produces a great outcome. The same principles apply to child rearing.

What is put into raising, imparting and guiding a child in the present, will harvest a strong, forward-thinking world changer later. Apply these FIVE factors from Christy Little Jones as keys to raising your child to change the world he lives in…and watch him grow.

1.STUDY YOUR CHILD --As the parent of a world-changer child, you must start with a vision. What are your child’s natural gifts? What are their interests? Sit down with each child in your household and ask them what they believe their gifts are and how do they want to use them to bring change into the world? Incorporate their answers with who you know them to be.

2. HAVE A STRATEGIC PLAN. Now that you have identified a few of your child’s gifts, talents and interests, now is the time to start taking action and putting those gifts into practice. Begin to set goals and a purpose with a desired outcome to keep you on track. Depending on the interest and/or gift, ask your child what he would like to do to bring about change in the world using his/her gifts. For example: if your son or daughter loves animals, together, come up with ways that his/her love for animals can change the world. Depending on the age of your child, volunteer at an animal shelter or dog sit for a friend. If reading is your child’s interest, bring her to read to seniors at a retirement community. It’s a great way to serve happiness and impact someone’s life for the better.

3. BE CONSISTENT – Consistency requires commitment and discipline. Consistency is going to be the glue that holds your child’s strategic plan together. If you are wishy-washy or don’t follow through, you can’t expect to gain the same results. Be intentional and have integrity with what you set out to do, so that you can be sure to keep your commitment.

4. ALLOW ROOM FOR EXPLORING – Experience is the best teacher!  When we create the space for our child/ren to explore, learning and development takes place at any age. A child who explores their ideas, thoughts and beliefs through action gains the freedom to engage with others on a deeper level. Exploring helps us to discover who we are, what we like and what we don’t.  Can you imagine creating an environment for your child/ren where “failure” is embraced? What a wonderful gift to give your child.

5. BE YOUR CHILD’S CHEERLEADER! Your words hold power and your position has long-lasting influence. Make the decision to support and encourage your child throughout the trials and tribulations of parenthood.  Be careful with your words; choose them wisely. Be a parent that your son or daughter can trust with their innermost secrets and fears. If your child trusts you, he or she will give you their heart and you will gain access to walking with them along their journey to changing the world!

These tips are excellent for all parents. As a Christian parent, I believe that prayer and reading of the Word goes along way and will help enhance these tips for raising our children into becoming God fearing adults.  Isn't it amazing?  God is good.

Thank you Christy for sharing your bio and tips with us.  It was a joy sharing this information with our readers.

Have a wonderful and blessed weekend everyone! Stay tuned for Coupon Friday which will now be strictly on our "Deals for Moms" page!

Many Blessings!

Mary has participated many times in these events and has seen first hand how much it means to the children involved. But this year, why not try something even more meaningful and memorable, and help provide experiences  - not things - to disadvantaged kids. Here are some unusual ways to make the holidays special for kids in need:
- Bring in a local church choir or madrigal singers to take the children from a group home out Christmas caroling. Provide hot chocolate and holiday treats when they return.
- Ask local artists to participate in a hands-on art project with a multicultural holiday theme at a homeless shelter. Find out if an art store in the area will donate supplies. Make the project something interactive and don't be afraid to be a little messy - kids love that! Just bring along some old shirts and towels (and volunteers) for quick and efficient clean up.
- Bring in a professional storyteller to a community center in a disadvantaged area of your community and invite them to share a classic holiday story like The Night Before Christmas.
- Theater tickets can be out of reach for many needy families due to cost. Get together with your extended family, friends or co-workers, and between you, buy tickets to a holiday themed show or musical for a few local families who simply can't afford such an extravagance. Contact the theater manager and see if you can get the seats for half price. Maybe they'll even throw in a few tickets on the house! Arrange for transportation or provide a parking pass.
- Arrange for a professional magician to entertain at the children's ward of the community hospital during Chanukah or Christmas. Make sure the magician will go from bed to bed for the sickest children. Kids who are facing illness need to be reminded that life can still be magical.
-Ask local restaurants in your hometown to consider setting up a Holiday Table. Restaurant patrons, local businesses, or places of worship can be invited to sponsor the table for one night in December to provide a free meal for a family in need this holiday season. Make sure to choose restaurants with kid friendly options!

Mejier Stores Team up with Produce for Kids to support Healthier Eating

Good evening everyone!  In honor of our recipe exchange page here on Michigan Home Mommy Works, I would like to share with you a program through Meijer and Produce for Kids.  Many parents are concerned about healthy eating in the home especially in schools, how about you?  Here is a summary of this fantastic program:

Meijer and Produce for Kids are teaming up to host the second annual Healthy Schools, Healthy Minds campaign. Now through September 29th, local shoppers can contribute to this cause and support your local schools by adding produce to their Meijer shopping lists. During the campaign, participating fresh fruit and vegetable suppliers will make a donation based on consumption of their fresh produce items to, which will support local classroom projects.

Shoppers can be on the lookout for the Produce for Kids display unit, featuring characters from popular Sprout shows, LazyTown™ and Noodle and Doodle, in the produce section of their local Meijer store. The more items shoppers add to their shopping lists, the more local classrooms will benefit!

Meijer will also feature the Ideal Meals™ program from Produce for Kids in the produce department. Ideal Meals cards provide 12 quick, easy, and healthy chef-created/dietitian-approved complete meal solutions for breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts.
